Another Earthquake Measuring 5.6 Hits Indonesia’s Waters

Another earthquake measuring 5.6 magnitude struck the waters off Indonesia’s Flores region at 2:51 pm on Sunday (Aug 16), according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

The department said the quake was centred at 8.0° South and 120.6° East, at a depth of 10km, about 213km east of Bima, Indonesia.

An assessment from MetMalaysia found no tsunami threat to Malaysia.

The department issued the latest information at 3 pm on Sunday, noting that the statement would remain final unless further developments or additional information are released.
