Bintan Island has a new resort for travellers looking for a beach break within easy reach of Singapore. Mövenpick Resort & Spa Bintan Lagoon opened on Aug 13 on the island’s northern coast.
The resort is accessible by ferry from Singapore and has 408 rooms and suites. Each has a private balcony or terrace with views of the gardens or sea. Room types range from Deluxe Rooms to larger suites.
Dining is spread across several venues. Port 19 serves Indonesian, Asian and international dishes, while Yokatta Izakaya & Bar focuses on Japanese food such as sushi, udon and yakitori.
Klon-Tong Deli takes inspiration from Bintan in the 1980s and serves pastries, coffee, ice cream and local specialities. There is also the Recreation Village Sports Lounge and the swim-up Ocean Pool Bar.
At the beachfront, Soñada Beach Club serves Pan-Asian and Italian dishes. It also has a pool, cabanas and weekend DJ sessions.
The resort also brings Mövenpick’s Chocolate Hour to Bintan, a daily chocolate service for guests.
Activities are centred around the Recreation Village, which includes a fitness centre, sports facilities, yoga and Pilates. Families can use Little Birds Club, which has indoor and outdoor play areas and activities for children.
Guests can also use the resort’s pools and take part in kayaking, paddleboarding and other non-motorised water sports.
Golf is another major draw. The nearby Bintan Lagoon International Golf has two 18-hole courses designed by Jack Nicklaus and Ian Baker-Finch.
For wellness, Shantara Spa & Wellness has treatment rooms, couples’ rooms, reflexology and facial treatments, as well as sauna and steam facilities.
The property also caters to business and group stays. It has more than 2,000 square metres of meetings and events space, including a 900-square-metre Grand Ballroom.
With its mix of rooms, restaurants, recreation, golf, spa and event facilities, the new resort is set up for both short leisure trips and larger group stays.
