Bursa Opens Higher With KLCI Near 1,730

Bursa Malaysia opened higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) gaining 3.28 points or 0.19% to 1,729.17 as selected heavyweight counters lifted the market.

The index opened at 1,727.52 and moved between an early low of 1,726.44 and a high of 1,729.38 in the opening trade.

At 9.27 am, the FBM KLCI was slightly lower at 1,729.14, still up 3.25 points or 0.19%.

The broader market was mixed, with the FBM100 gaining 17.45 points or 0.14% to 12,634.63 while the FBMEMAS rose 16.58 points or 0.13% to 12,825.74.

The FBM70 slipped 2.30 points or 0.01% to 18,285.55 while the FBMSCAP eased 2.47 points or 0.02% to 16,198.48.

Among sectoral indices, the energy index rose 2.02 points or 0.26% to 779.64 while the construction index added 0.10 point to 303.18. The consumer products and services index, meanwhile, edged down 0.30 point or 0.06% to 496.45.

The financial services segment also started firmer, with the F4GBM index rising 1.47 points or 0.14% to 1,039.97.

Among the most active counters, JAKS rose 0.5 sen to 14 sen on a volume of 342.35 million shares, while Tanco was unchanged at 24.5 sen after 128.25 million shares changed hands.

Ingenieur gained 1 sen to 4.5 sen with 126.67 million shares traded, while Buscap jumped 7.5 sen to 45.5 sen on 85.04 million shares.

Luster was unchanged at three sen after 84.26 million shares were traded.

Among the top gainers, F&N added 20 sen to RM26.54, SDG gained 14 sen to RM6.67 and KGB rose 10 sen to RM8.64.

MI also advanced 10 sen to RM5.99 while Bursa Malaysia added nine sen to RM8.45.

On the losing side, UTDPLT fell 16 sen to RM32.84, HLBANK declined 14 sen to RM22.60 and SKYECHIP slipped 12 sen to RM3.13.

BLDPLNT eased 10 sen to RM14.90 while Tenaga Nasional declined six sen to RM14.42.
