AIA PUBLIC Takaful Bhd announced that it will expand its Scholarship Programme with an additional RM3.2 million in funding and welcomed Universiti Malaya (UM) as its newest university partner.
The latest RM3.2 million commitment will support 40 additional students, with RM1.6 million allocated to a second cohort of 20 scholars at IIUM and another RM1.6 million dedicated to UM’s inaugural cohort of 20 scholars. This brings the programme’s total reach to 60 scholars, with RM4.8 million in scholarship funding committed to date.
Launched in October 2025, the AIA Penyala Harapan Scholarship Programme is funded through surplus donations contributed by AIA PUBLIC Takaful certificate holders to the AIA Penyala Harapan Charity Fund. Established by the takaful operator, the fund supports charitable causes that uplift and improve the wellbeing of communities across Malaysia. Reflecting the spirit of Berkat Sama-Sama, the programme transforms collective contributions into meaningful educational opportunities that create lasting impact for future generations.
Commenting on the programme’s expansion and growing impact, Mohd Asri Omar, Chief Executive Officer of AIA PUBLIC Takaful said: “In less than a year, the AIA Penyala Harapan Scholarship Programme has grown from supporting a single cohort to partnering with two of Malaysia’s leading universities.”
