Malaysia-Cambodia Business Mission Targets RM100 Million In Potential Trade

Malaysia is targeting RM100 million in potential trade from a business mission to Cambodia as it looks to deepen commercial ties with one of ASEAN’s fastest-growing economies.

The Malaysia-Cambodia Business Seminar and B2B Meetings, organised alongside the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation’s (MATRADE) Export Acceleration Mission to Cambodia, comes as bilateral trade recorded strong growth in the first half of 2026.

Bilateral trade rose 51.1% to RM3.32 billion during the period, while Malaysia’s exports to Cambodia increased 40.9% to RM2.45 billion.

MATRADE Chairman Dato’ Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican

MATRADE Chairman Dato’ Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said the mission would help Malaysian companies build partnerships and gain greater access to the Cambodian market.

“Cambodia offers significant opportunities for Malaysian exporters across a wide range of sectors. Through initiatives such as this business seminar and structured business matching sessions, MATRADE is connecting Malaysian companies with credible business partners, providing valuable market intelligence and creating pathways for sustainable commercial partnerships,” he said.

The seminar brought together more than 120 government officials, trade agencies and business representatives from both countries, with discussions covering Cambodia’s market landscape, regulations, customs procedures and emerging opportunities.

The programme culminated in B2B meetings involving 29 representatives from 26 Malaysian companies and 41 Cambodian buyers and importers. The companies explored opportunities across food and beverage, fast-moving consumer goods, halal, automotive and lifestyle sectors.

The initiative also comes ahead of the 70th anniversary of Malaysia-Cambodia diplomatic relations in 2027, with both sides looking to strengthen economic cooperation and expand intra-ASEAN trade.
