KPJ Healthcare Bhd managing director and president Mr Chin Keat Chyuan will resign from his position effective Sept 1, 2026, to pursue other interests.
Following his departure, Prof Dato’ Dr Hanafiah Harunarashid, KPJ Healthcare’s chief medical director, will assume the role of officer-in-charge effective Sept 1, pending the appointment of a new president and managing director.
Chin, 52, joined KPJ’s leadership after a long career in the healthcare and medical technology sectors. He currently serves as vice-president of the Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia (APHM) and is a council member of the Malaysia-UAE Business Council under the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia.
He previously served as vice-president of Ethicon South East Asia from 2022 to 2023 and was president of the Pharmaceutical Association of Malaysia (PhAMA) from 2017 to 2023.
Chin also spent more than two decades with Johnson & Johnson, holding several senior positions including managing director of Johnson & Johnson Malaysia and Brunei from 2016 to 2022, country director from 2014 to 2015, and ASEAN general manager of Johnson & Johnson Medical from 2013 to 2014.
He began his career with Johnson & Johnson Medical Malaysia in 1997 as a product specialist and sales manager before progressing through various franchise and regional leadership roles.
Chin holds a Master of Business Administration with Merit from the University of Nottingham’s Nottingham University Business School in the United Kingdom and a Bachelor of Biochemistry (Hons) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He also completed an Executive Education Programme in Advanced Strategic Management at IMD Business School.
