Bursa Malaysia closed marginally lower on Aug 24 as investors stayed cautious ahead of further corporate earnings releases, with the benchmark index slipping just 0.15 point.
At the closing bell, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 0.01% to 1,736.33 from its Aug 21 close of 1,736.48, after moving between an intraday low of 1,733.07 and a high of 1,739.47.
The broader market also finished weaker, with the FBM 70 fell 81.80 points, or 0.45%, to 18,069.24, while the FBM Emas declined 13.68 points to 12,818.60. The FBM Shariah slipped 12.43 points to 12,629.36.
Among the most actively traded counters, Zetrix AI Bhd edged up half a sen to 65.5 sen, while Dagang NeXchange Bhd fell three sen to 48 sen.
KPJ Healthcare Bhd remained under selling pressure, tumbling 32 sen to RM2.80, while AirAsia Group Bhd lost three sen to 78 sen and NexG Bhd dropped five sen to 27 sen.
Trading activity moderated, with 3.6 billion shares worth RM3.03 billion changing hands, down from 3.91 billion shares valued at RM3.32 billion on Aug 21.
Investors are expected to remain focused on upcoming financial results for fresh signals on earnings resilience and the market’s near-term direction.
