Four states recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 8 am today, with Sarawak recording the most affected areas.
Data from the Malaysian Air Pollution Index Management System (APIMS) showed Serian recorded the highest reading at 188, followed by Kuching at 175, Samarahan at 169, Sri Aman at 158 and Bintulu at 108.
Elsewhere, Johan Setia and Kuala Selangor in Selangor recorded readings of 161 and 128 respectively. In Kedah, Sungai Petani recorded 155 while Alor Setar registered 145, while Penang recorded 134.
According to BuletinTV3, 58 areas nationwide recorded moderate air quality, while no areas registered good, very unhealthy or hazardous readings as of 8 am.
The Department of Environment (DOE) continues to monitor ambient air quality through 68 stations nationwide to detect significant changes that could affect public health and the environment.
