Malaysia’s Global Halal Summit (GHaS) 2026 will bring halal authorities, certification bodies, academics and industry players together to address emerging issues including cultured meat, halal vaccine certification and global regulatory standards.
Led by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), the summit will feature the Halal Certification Bodies Convention from Sept 22 to 23, covering shariah auditing, contemporary fiqh issues, halal logistics and foreign halal certification recognition.
JAKIM Director General Dato’ Dr. Sirajuddin Suhaimee said the summit would strengthen cooperation and address new challenges facing the global halal ecosystem.
Sirajuddin said, “GHaS 2026 serves as a vital global platform to unite halal authorities, certification bodies, academia, and industry leaders under a shared vision of integrity and innovation. Through key components like the Halal Certification Bodies Convention and technical capacity-building sessions, we aim to address complex modern challenges, such as contemporary fiqh issues, novel food technologies, and global regulatory standardisation, while reinforcing Malaysia’s gold standard in halal governance.”
The trade component, the 22nd Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS), will run from Sept 23 to 26 at MITEC Kuala Lumpur, covering 14 sectors.
MIHAS 2026 will also introduce enhanced Agentic AI capabilities to facilitate B2B matchmaking, help visitors navigate the exhibition and connect Malaysian businesses with potential international partners.
The wider GHaS programme will include technical capacity-building, the World Halal Business Conference, Sertu standards consultations and halal research and education programmes.
