Selling pressure swept across Bursa Malaysia on Aug 28, with 917 decliners outpacing 405 gainers, as several heavyweight counters came under pressure despite pockets of strength among selected stocks.
Nestlé (M) Bhd was the day’s biggest loser, tumbling RM2.90 to RM100.10, while Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd fell RM1.26 to RM41.56.
MISC Bhd lost 56 sen to RM7.92, while Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd and Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd both declined 42 sen to RM14.36 and RM25.48 respectively.
Among gainers, United Plantations Bhd led the pack with a 66 sen rise to RM31.94, followed by Spritzer Bhd, which gained 33 sen to RM3.55.
MBM Resources Bhd advanced 26 sen to RM5.30, Mega Fortris Bhd added 19 sen to RM2.30 and APM Automotive Holdings Bhd rose 17 sen to RM3.
Market turnover jumped to 5.06 billion units worth RM6.51 billion, sharply higher than the 3.85 billion units valued at RM3.46 billion on Aug 27.
