Axiata Group Berhad has announced the resignation of Shahin Farouque Jammal Ahmad as its Non-Independent Non-Executive Director, effective Sept 1, 2026, as he takes on expanded responsibilities within Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) and its investee companies.
In a Bursa Malaysia filing, Axiata said Shahin, 52, resigned from the board in view of his expanded responsibilities within the PNB Group and its portfolio of investee companies.
The telecommunications group said there were no disagreements between Shahin and Axiata’s board of directors and no matters relating to his resignation that needed to be brought to shareholders’ attention.
Shahin currently serves as Deputy Group Chief Investment Officer of PNB, one of Malaysia’s largest fund management institutions.
Prior to PNB, he was an Executive Director in the Investments Division of Khazanah Nasional Berhad, where he also served on the boards of various creative and media companies within Khazanah’s portfolio.
Before joining Khazanah in 2016, Shahin held various domestic and regional positions at commercial and investment banks.
He has more than 20 years of investment banking experience.
Shahin holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics, specialising in Accounting and Finance, from the London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London.
