Govt Boosts 2027 School Maintenance Allocation To RM1.5 Billion For 2027

The government will increase the maintenance allocation for all types of schools by 50% to RM1.5 billion in 2027, up from RM1 billion this year, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced today.

The additional RM500 million will be extended across all priority school streams, including national schools, Chinese and Tamil national-type schools, religious schools, tahfiz and pondok institutions, as well as special education schools.

“Everyone is guaranteed to receive additional allocations,” Anwar said when delivering his National Day Prime Address at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) today.

Alongside the higher allocation, the Ministry of Education will begin visiting districts nationwide from next month to assess applications for school infrastructure repairs.

Anwar said the move would allow repair needs to be identified earlier and help prevent essential works from being delayed until the following year.
