Inde Navarette Officially Campaigning For Best Actress Oscars

The One Wish Willow for many horror movie goers has worked.

Inde Navarrette will campaign in the best actress category this coming awards season for her breakout turn in Curry Barker’s box office smash “Obsession,” headlining a wide-ranging effort from Focus Features that will seek recognition across nearly every category the film is eligible to enter.

It is a seismic full-court press studios reserve for a title they believe can go the distance. Alongside Navarrette, the distributor plans to campaign Barker as a rare triple threat in best director, original screenplay and film editing, the same three categories Sean Baker swept for his best picture winner “Anora” (which he also took alongside one more as producer).

Additionally, the studio is also campaigning Michael Johnston as the “nice guy” co-lead Bear for Best Actor, Cooper Tomlinson as Bear’s best friend Ian as well as Megan Lawless as Bear and Nikki’s friend Sarah and Andy Richter as the music store boss for the Best Supporting categories. They are also campaigning for casting, production design, cinematography, costume design, makeup and hairstyling, sound, original score, and even best picture.

As one knows, horror films are unlikely to do well with the Academy due to it being “genre fiction”. However, we have seen the success of this year’s Academy Awards, where Michael B Jordan and Amy Madigan took home Oscars for Best Actor and Best Supporting in Sinners and Weapons. The Ryan Coogler helmed horror piece received sixteen nominations, with Coogler taking home an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.

One can only hope that Obsession to Academy voters will be a love only the branch of a willow tree could conjure.
