Serian Continues To Record Hazardous Air Quality At APU Reading Of 345

The air quality in Serian, Sarawak deteriorated to hazardous levels this morning, with the air pollutant index (APU) reaching 345 as at 9.30 am.

The reading was recorded at the monitoring station at the Serian District Police Headquarters (IPD), according to the Department of Environment’s (DOE) Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS).

Four other areas in Sarawak also recorded very unhealthy air quality, with Sri Aman registering an IPU reading of 294, followed by Kuching at 273, Samarahan at 255 and Sarikei at 223.

Meanwhile, 15 locations across Sarawak, Sabah, Labuan and Negeri Sembilan recorded unhealthy IPU readings.

In Sarawak, the affected areas were Sibu with a reading of 188, Bintulu (175), Kapit (174), Mukah (171), Samalaju (167), Limbang (155), ILP Miri (153) and Miri (125).

In Sabah, Politeknik Kota Kinabalu recorded an IPU of 165, followed by Kimanis and Keningau at 164 each and Kota Kinabalu at 163.

Labuan recorded an IPU reading of 160 while Nilai, Negeri Sembilan recorded 110.

A total of 45 areas nationwide recorded moderate air quality while three areas recorded good air quality as at 9.30 am.
