Bursa Malaysia closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rising 6.69 points or 0.39% to 1,714.79 as gains in several heavyweight counters lifted the broader market.
The index moved between an intraday low of 1,708.26 and a high of 1,715.29 before settling at 1,714.79.
Among the top gainers, Petronas Gas Bhd rose 44 sen to RM17.70, while Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd gained 42 sen to RM39.82.
Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd added 24 sen to RM22.50 and Tenaga Nasional Bhd advanced 22 sen to RM13.84. UMS Integration Bhd rounded out the top five gainers, rising 14 sen to RM8.24.
However, gains were capped by losses in several consumer and financial counters.
Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd was the biggest decliner, falling 94 sen to RM93.90, followed by Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd which slipped 26 sen to RM12.76.
Hong Leong Industries Bhd declined 22 sen to RM17.40, while Allianz Malaysia Bhd fell 20 sen to RM21.38 and Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd lost 18 sen to RM18.82.
Trading activity was led by Zetrix AI Bhd, which recorded 579.58 million shares traded and gained 1.5 sen to 27 sen.
HHRG Bhd followed with 184.81 million shares traded, rising six sen to 20.5 sen, while Ingenieur Gudang Bhd recorded 119.67 million shares in turnover, falling one sen to 3.5 sen.
Key Asic Bhd gained 0.5 sen to seven sen on 60.05 million shares traded, while Capital A Bhd declined two sen to 29 sen with 37.54 million shares changing hands.
Other key indices also ended in positive territory, with the FBM Small Cap Index rising 49.83 points or 0.40% to 12,410.53, while the FBM EMAS Index gained 35.04 points or 0.28% to 12,660.49.
