MN Holdings Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary has secured, together with Pembinaan Tajri Sdn Bhd, a RM67.32 million contract from Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) to undertake 275-kilovolt (kV) underground cable works to support bulk electricity supply to Intel’s operations in Penang.
The group said its subsidiary MN Utilities Engineering Sdn Bhd (MNUE) and Pembinaan Tajri had on Sept 7 received the contract award through an unincorporated joint venture arrangement.
The contract involves the installation of a new 275kV reconfiguration underground cable from the LILO Point to the Intel Electronic Malaysia switching station for 275kV bulk supply to Intel Penang.
The contract, awarded through a TNB letter dated Sept 4, has a total value of RM67.32 million inclusive of Sales and Service Tax (SST).
Under the joint venture arrangement, MNUE will have an 80% participation, while Pembinaan Tajri will hold the remaining 20%, unless another proportion is subsequently mutually agreed upon.
Based on the initial 80:20 allocation, MNUE’s share of the RM67.32 million contract would amount to approximately RM53.85 million.
The scope covers engineering, design, supply and erection works for the new 275kV underground cable infrastructure between the LILO Point and Intel Electronic Malaysia’s switching station.
It also includes associated civil works, obtaining permits from relevant stakeholders, reinstatement and restoration of affected surfaces and existing structures, as well as cleaning of work areas.
MNUE and Pembinaan Tajri will be jointly and severally responsible for the execution and completion of the works under the contract.
The contract became effective on Sept 4, 2026.
