KLCI Extends Losses At Midday, Down 0.16%

Bursa Malaysia traded mixed at midday on Tuesday, with the benchmark FBM KLCI slipping 2.71 points or 0.16% to 1,712.08 as selected heavyweights came under pressure.

The index opened at 1,713.14 and moved between 1,710.44 and 1,714.50 during the morning session.

Among the broader indices, the FBM70 rose 9.79 points or 0.06% to 17,786.65 while the FBM Small Cap Index gained 4.45 points or 0.04% to 12,414.98. The FBM EMAS eased 10.35 points or 0.08% to 12,650.14 while the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Mid 70 Index slipped 1.02 points or 0.10% to 1,026.98.

ZETRIX was the most actively traded counter, rising four sen to 31 sen with 95.52 million shares traded.

Newly listed aviation MRO firm GTA was next, falling 0.5 sen to 34.5 sen on 6.94 million shares. CUSCAPI gained 1.5 sen to six sen, while HHRG slipped 1.5 sen to 19 sen and JAKS was unchanged at 12.5 sen.

United Plantations led the gainers, rising 86 sen to RM33.06, followed by Nestle Malaysia which gained 42 sen to RM94.32. Heineken Malaysia added 20 sen to RM14.88, while ITMAX rose 19 sen to RM4.44 and Petronas Dagangan gained 18 sen to RM19.90.

On the losing side, MPI fell 38 sen to RM39.44, while Malayan Cement dropped 27 sen to RM5.76. Hong Leong Industries and Petronas Gas each shed 24 sen to RM17.16 and RM17.46 respectively, while Sunway eased 11 sen to RM4.85.
