Bursa Malaysia closed virtually unchanged on Sept 9 as investors stayed cautious amid heightened tensions in West Asia that pushed Brent crude oil above US$100 per barrel.
At 5pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) slipped just 0.06 point to 1,714.34 from the close of 1,714.40 on Sept 8. The benchmark moved between an intraday low of 1,710.36 and a high of 1,718.52.
Despite the flat benchmark, the broader indices finished higher, with the FBM 70 gaining 37.65 points to 17,864.56, while the F4GBM added 0.67 point to 1,029.51. The FBM Emas climbed 9.99 points to 12,681.02, while the FBM Shariah advanced 56.07 points to 12,506.90, ending at its session high.

Overall market volume eased to 3.66 billion units from 4.13 billion units on Sept 8, although total transaction value increased to RM3.49 billion from RM3.14 billion.
The muted close reflected a cautious trading environment as investors weighed the implications of surging oil prices and escalating geopolitical risks against continued pockets of buying interest in the broader market.
