Bursa Malaysia opened marginally higher on Wednesday, with the FBM KLCI edging up 0.94 points or 0.05% to 1,715.34 as selected heavyweight counters provided support.
The benchmark index opened at 1,715.46 and moved between 1,714.59 and 1,718.52 in early trade.
Broader market sentiment was also positive, with the FBM70 rising 33.37 points or 0.19% to 17,860.28 while the FBMSCAP climbed 65.60 points or 0.41% to 16,219.84.
The FBMEMAS gained 16.86 points or 0.13% to 12,687.89, while the FBM ACE advanced 11.83 points or 0.22% to 5,284.06.
Among sectoral indices, the Energy index was the strongest performer, rising 3.86 points or 0.47% to 822.63. The Construction index was the only notable decliner, easing 0.32 points or 0.10% to 314.76.
In active trading, Zetrix was the most actively traded counter, falling 2 sen to 28.5 sen on 1.76 billion shares. NEXG rose 2.5 sen to 29.5 sen with 263.26 million shares traded, while GTA fell 4 sen to 29.5 sen on 222.26 million shares.
Among the top gainers, MPI rose 44 sen to RM40.26, HEIM gained 26 sen to RM15.12 and UWC climbed 23 sen to RM6.75.
Nestle was the biggest loser, falling 74 sen to RM93.42, followed by Hong Leong Financial Group which slipped 10 sen to RM18.88.
