Road users along Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah will face a 322-day traffic diversion from Sept 12 to July 31 next year to facilitate construction works for the Mutiara Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) project.
Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) said the diversion would cover the stretch near the Acre Work construction area up to the junction leading to the Penang Airport Taxi Limousine Service towards Teluk Kumbar.
The traffic diversion will allow piling and permanent structural works to be carried out in the road median.
“… Road users are advised to exercise caution when passing through the areas,” MRT Corp said in a statement today.
Separately, MRT Corp said a short-term lane closure would be implemented along Jalan Magazine from 10pm on Sept 14 until 5am on Oct 5.
The closure involves the leftmost lane in front of St Giles Wembley Hotel heading towards KOMTAR to facilitate road widening and utility relocation works.
Other lanes along Jalan Magazine will remain open during the closure.
MRT Corp said road signs and traffic cones would be installed, while flagmen would be deployed to manage traffic flow and ensure road users’ safety.
