Stock Today: IHH Healthcare Slips 1.01% As Fortis Expansion Plan Stays In Focus

IHH Healthcare Bhd shares fell 1.01% in afternoon trading on Thursday, with the healthcare group’s stock slipping below its previous closing price amid continued investor attention on its planned expansion of its stake in India’s Fortis Healthcare Ltd.

As of 3.09pm, IHH was down RM0.08 to RM7.84, compared with its last adjusted closing price of RM7.92. The counter opened at RM7.91 and touched an intraday high of RM7.91 before falling to a low of RM7.83.

A total of 342,800 shares changed hands.

The decline comes days after CIMB Securities maintained its BUY call and RM10.30 sum-of-parts target price on IHH following a management briefing.

CIMB said IHH plans to gradually raise its stake in Fortis to 51% from 31.17% by 2030, which could require around RM5.8 billion in capital over the next four years, assuming no share-swap transaction.

The research house said IHH could increase its Fortis ownership by around five percentage points annually through primary capital injections or secondary market purchases, while a potential share swap involving Gleneagles India and Fortis could provide another route to increase its effective stake.

CIMB also maintained its FY2026 to FY2028 earnings-per-share forecasts, saying the long-running legal proceedings surrounding Fortis were unlikely to have a material impact on IHH’s operations.

IHH’s net gearing stood at 0.6 times as at June 2026, broadly unchanged from December 2025.
