Air quality across Selangor showed further improvement on Sunday morning, with all six monitoring stations in the state recording moderate Air Pollutant Index (API) readings.
According to data from the Department of Environment’s Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) as of 7.42am, Johan Setia recorded the highest API reading in Selangor at 95.
This was followed by Shah Alam at 79, Banting at 74, Petaling Jaya and Klang at 71 each, while Kuala Selangor recorded the lowest reading in the state at 65.
The latest figures mark a significant improvement from Sept 9, when all six areas were classified as having unhealthy air quality.
At the time, Johan Setia recorded an API reading of 164, followed by Shah Alam at 161, Banting at 156, Petaling Jaya and Klang at 153 each, and Kuala Selangor at 151.
Nationwide, most monitoring stations also recorded moderate air quality on Sunday morning.
However, five locations in Sarawak remained at unhealthy levels, with IPD Serian recording the highest API reading at 189.
Sri Aman recorded 176, Kuching 157, Samarahan 156 and Sibu 110.
Meanwhile, eight locations nationwide recorded good air quality.
Kota Bharu registered an API reading of 44, Minden 41, Besut 31, Alor Setar 27, Tanah Merah 26, Langkawi and Balik Pulau 20 each, while Kangar recorded the lowest reading at 18.
Under the API classification, readings of zero to 50 are categorised as good, 51 to 100 as moderate, 101 to 200 as unhealthy, 201 to 300 as very unhealthy, and above 300 as hazardous.
