Coach marked its 85th anniversary by looking back at its archives, then pulling them apart for Spring/Summer 2027.
Creative director Stuart Vevers revisited familiar pieces including trench coats, leather jackets, tuxedos, bias-cut dresses and Western boots. The silhouettes were slimmer and longer, while exposed seams, linings and construction details gave classic pieces a more unfinished look.
The collection also played with the idea of clothes gaining character over time. Soft nappa leather and garment-dyed jersey gave tailoring a worn-in feel, while muted shades of black, grey and taupe kept the opening looks understated.
Accessories followed the same approach. Vintage Coach pouches were reworked into new bags, while the Turnlock Tote, based on a 1970 design, was given treatments including metallic foil, glitter, confetti and cracked nail-polish effects.
The anniversary theme became more literal as the show progressed. Models appeared in party hats, carried wrapped packages and wore pieces covered in sequins and reflective fabrics. Birthday cards and gift wrapping were also turned into leather accessories.
The New York show then shifted into a full celebration. Young musicians from UpBeat NYC performed MFSB’s “Love Is the Message” as voguing dancers joined the finale and confetti fell across the runway. Guests were then taken into Coach Club 85 for the after-party.
