Wisma Putra Monitoring Missing Passenger Ship In Java, No Malaysians Identified So Far

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring reports of a missing passenger ship, Virgo Transport 8, in Indonesia’s Java Sea, with no indication so far that Malaysian nationals were involved.

In a media advisory issued on Sunday, Wisma Putra said it was in contact with the relevant Indonesian authorities to obtain the official passenger manifest and other verified information on the incident.

“At this preliminary stage, the ministry has not received any information indicating that Malaysian nationals are involved in the incident,” it said.

The Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta is also maintaining contact with Indonesian authorities to verify passenger details and obtain further developments.

The ministry advised Malaysians residing in or travelling to Indonesia to comply with instructions issued by local authorities.
