Eight locations across Malaysia continued to record unhealthy air quality as of 9am on Sept 14, according to the Department of Environment (DOE).
The latest air quality reading showed the Air Pollutant Index (API) at 174 in Serian, Sarawak, making it the most affected location among the eight stations recording unhealthy levels.
Sri Aman in Sarawak recorded an API reading of 172, followed by Johan Setia in Selangor at 158 and Cheras in Kuala Lumpur at 152.
Two locations in Negeri Sembilan also recorded unhealthy air quality, with Seremban registering an API of 138 and Nilai at 134.
Kuching recorded an API of 129, while Putrajaya recorded 128.
The DOE classifies API readings between 101 and 200 as unhealthy, while readings between 51 and 100 are considered moderate and those between zero and 50 are classified as good.
The department said 128 monitoring stations were recording good air quality, while 58 stations recorded moderate readings.
No locations were recorded under the very unhealthy category, which applies to API readings above 200.
The readings were updated by the DOE at 9am.
