Singapore stocks opened higher on Monday, with the Straits Times Index (STI) rising 7.33 points or 0.13% to 5,703.26 as selected blue-chip counters gained.
The broader market remained weaker, however, with 148 decliners against 74 advancers as trading volume reached 101.27 million shares worth S$170.29 million.
DBS was among the early gainers, rising 44 cents or 0.57% to S$77.44, while OCBC Bank gained to S$31.80. UOB was also higher at S$41.76.
Singtel traded at S$4.45, while Yangzijiang Shipbuilding was at S$5.05. Seatrium traded at S$2.14.
Among REITs, Keppel DC REIT was unchanged at S$2.14, while CapitaLand Ascendas REIT stood at S$2.33 and CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust at S$2.29.
Keppel REIT traded at S$0.845, while Mapletree Industrial Trust was at S$1.91 and Frasers Centrepoint Trust at S$2.08.
The opening comes as Asian markets remain under pressure from surging oil prices and renewed concerns over interest rates, with investors watching developments in the Middle East alongside upcoming central bank decisions.
