Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) has standardised its e-hailing vehicle entry fee at RM2, inclusive of tax, across Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 effective today.
The revised rate is lower than the previous RM3 charge at Terminal 1 and RM2.16 at Terminal 2, giving passengers and e-hailing operators a single rate for pick-ups at both terminals.
Malaysia Airports said the move was aimed at providing greater consistency and clarity while streamlining e-hailing operations across KLIA.
Meanwhile, enhanced e-hailing facilities introduced at Terminal 1 in August have improved operational performance, with 99.3% of drivers now completing passenger pick-ups and exiting within the allocated 10-minute grace period, compared with 49.4% previously.
The airport operator said daily vehicle volume entering the pick-up lanes also fell 13.5%, from 8,124 to 7,024 vehicles.
“This reflects improved control of e-hailing operations, with reduced unauthorised activity, unnecessary vehicle circulation and prolonged idling, while maintaining smooth access for genuine passenger pick-ups,” it said in a statement today.
Peak-hour processing capacity has also increased from 302 to up to 660 vehicles per hour, allowing faster vehicle turnaround and smoother pick-ups during busy arrival periods.
Senior General Manager for Passenger Experience at KLIA Abd Hasman Abd Muhimin said the improvements were aimed at making the passenger journey more efficient while keeping airport operations orderly and responsive.
“At KLIA, every part of the passenger journey matters, including the experience of getting to and from the airport. By providing passengers with a comfortable indoor space to wait and giving drivers clearer timeframes, we are seeing better compliance, faster vehicle turnover and improved traffic flow,” he said.
The upgraded Terminal 1 facilities include a License Plate Recognition system integrated with Passenger Information Display Screens, self-service kiosks, dedicated passenger waiting areas, structured pick-up bays and on-ground marshals.
The enhanced system also allows stricter monitoring and access control to ensure only authorised e-hailing vehicles use the designated pick-up facilities.
E-hailing vehicles will continue to have a maximum of 10 minutes at the kerbside pick-up area to support traffic circulation and improve the availability of pick-up bays.
