RON97, unsubsidised RON95 and unsubsidised diesel prices will rise by 35 sen per litre from Sept 17 to Sept 23, 2026, amid higher global oil prices following escalating conflict in West Asia.
Based on the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM), RON97 will increase to RM4.85 per litre from RM4.50, while unsubsidised RON95 rises to RM4.37 from RM4.02. Diesel will climb to RM5.27 from RM4.92.
The Ministry of Finance said Brent crude rose above US$100 a barrel and approached US$110 during the APM calculation period as attacks around the Strait of Hormuz disrupted shipping and raised supply concerns.
Refining disruptions in Russia also kept refining margins elevated, further pushing up global petroleum product prices.
Despite the increase, subsidised fuel prices remain unchanged. Eligible BUDI95 recipients will continue paying RM1.99 per litre for RON95, while BUDI Diesel recipients will pay RM2.10 per litre.
The government will absorb RM2.38 per litre in BUDI95 subsidies and RM3.17 per litre for BUDI Diesel.
The ministry said tensions in West Asia and the Russia-Ukraine conflict could keep global petroleum prices volatile in the coming period.
