The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) disposed of a combined 5.73 million shares in Sime Darby Bhd on Sept 10, 2026, while remaining a substantial shareholder of the group.
According to filings, EPF directly disposed of 4.16 million shares, while another 1.51 million shares and 56,431 shares were disposed of through investment accounts managed by Amundi and RHB Islamic respectively.
Following the transactions, EPF held a total of 1.197 billion Sime Darby shares.
Its direct interest stood at 994.56 million shares, or 14.592%, while its indirect or deemed interest amounted to 202.22 million shares, or 2.967%. This gives EPF a combined interest of about 17.56% in Sime Darby after the disposals.
The holdings are registered through several Citigroup Nominees accounts on behalf of EPF and its appointed fund managers.
Sime Darby said the notice of change in substantial shareholding was dated Sept 11 and received by the company on Sept 15.
