Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd (MPI) led Bursa Malaysia’s gainers while Petronas Dagangan Bhd (PetDag) topped the decliners, as trading activity surged sharply.
MPI jumped RM2.70 to RM42.80, making it the day’s biggest gainer. Sunway Construction Group Bhd followed with a 76 sen increase to RM7.88, while TIME dotCom Bhd gained 49 sen to RM6.41.
Petronas Gas Bhd added 34 sen to RM17.50, while QL Resources Bhd rose 33 sen to RM4.19.
On the losing end, PetDag fell RM1 to RM20.08, leading the decliners. Nestlé (M) Bhd dropped 94 sen to RM89.58, while Hong Leong Bank Bhd shed 56 sen to RM22.54.
PPB Group Bhd declined 35 sen to RM9.36, while Heineken Malaysia Bhd lost 34 sen to RM14.14.
Market breadth nevertheless remained positive, with 625 gainers outpacing 564 decliners. Another 505 counters were unchanged, 1,172 untraded and 22 suspended.
Trading activity accelerated, with turnover surging to 4.91 billion units worth RM4.87 billion compared to 3.6 billion units valued at RM3.25 billion on Sept 17.
