The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) visited Sungai Buloh Prison on Wednesday to record a statement from former Felda chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad as part of its investigation into the Op Fella probe.
MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman said Isa’s statement concerned suspected corruption and abuse of power involving asset purchases and investments by Felda and Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FICSB).
The statement was recorded on Sept 17, with the investigation expected to continue next week. The probe covers a 10-year period from 2010 to 2020 and involves six newly opened investigation papers alongside one existing case.
As of Sept 18, MACC had recorded statements from 34 witnesses across seven cases, including former Felda and FICSB board members.
Among the cases under investigation is the alleged misappropriation linked to the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) project. MACC has detained two former senior executives — a former Felda director-general and a former FICSB chief executive officer — who were subsequently released on MACC bail.
Abd Halim said statements from 30 witnesses, including Felda board members and management, had been recorded in connection with the KLVC investigation, which has now been completed.
MACC will seek consent from the Attorney General’s Chambers to proceed with charges against the two individuals based on the completed investigation papers.
