DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke’s offer to resign as Transport Minister was the final decision reached by the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) and must be respected, said CEC deputy secretary-general Hannah Yeoh.
She said the CEC had held a lengthy meeting on Saturday, during which various proposals and views were considered before the decision was reached.
“The CEC held a lengthy meeting, and various proposals and views were put forward. The final decision, the CEC’s decision; this is the highest decision-making body, was that Anthony Loke offered to resign.
“That was the CEC’s decision. I do not want to disclose the other discussions as they were part of the CEC deliberations, but we have to respect the decision made by the CEC,” she told a press conference on the 2026 Deepavali Bazaar here today.
Hannah was responding to questions on the CEC’s decision following its meeting on DAP’s stance on the conditional pardon granted to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Loke offered to resign as Transport Minister on Saturday following the CEC meeting, saying the move was the party’s response to the conditional pardon. He said the resignation would only involve him as a Cabinet member, while other DAP ministers and deputy ministers would remain in the government to ensure political stability.
As of today, Loke is continuing his scheduled official programme in China before returning to Malaysia to attend to matters related to his resignation. The Prime Minister has yet to decide on the resignation offer.
