Bursa Malaysia Jumps 14.47 Points At Midday On Banking, Healthcare Buying

Bursa Malaysia stayed firmly in positive territory at midday on Sept 22, with the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) climbing 14.47 points, or 0.87%, to 1,681.41 as buying interest in banking and healthcare heavyweights lifted the broader market.

At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI rose to 1,681.41 after trading between 1,665.23 and 1,681.89 during the morning session.

The broader market was also stronger, with the FBM 70 gaining 101.34 points to 17,790.48, while the F4GBM added 8.18 points to 1,013.51.

The FBM Emas advanced 95.74 points to 12,494.35, while the FBM Shariah climbed 77.85 points to 12,314.61.

Market breadth also remained positive, with 534 gainers outpacing 432 losers, while 538 counters were unchanged, 1,369 untraded and 11 suspended.

Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd and IHH Healthcare Bhd led the gainers as both counters rise 38 sen to RM22.98 and RM8 respectively.

UMS Integration Ltd gained 29 sen to RM8.75, while APM Automotive Holdings Bhd advanced 28 sen to RM2.82. Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd rounded out the top five, adding 26 sen to RM43.06.

On the downside, Nestle (M) Bhd was the biggest loser at midday, falling 58 sen to RM89.12. Other top losers during midday include Allianz Malaysia Bhd, which declined 30 sen to RM21, while Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd slipped 14 sen to RM12.50.

Sunway Healthcare Holdings Bhd fell 10 sen to RM2.19, while Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd eased nine sen to RM2.27.

Among the most actively traded counters, AIMAX Bhd was unchanged at one sen, with about 164.18 million shares changing hands.

Zetrix AI Bhd added 0.5 sen to 20.5 sen on volume of about 94.01 million shares, while AirAsia Group Bhd gained five sen to 58 sen, with roughly 63.47 million shares traded.

Capital A Bhd rose 3.5 sen to 27.5 sen on about 46.49 million shares, while JAKS Resources Bhd was unchanged at 17 sen, with around 45.05 million shares transacted.

Turnover stood at 2.14 billion units worth RM1.45 billion.
