Bursa Rebounds 16.56 Points As Bargain Hunting Lifts KLCI To 1,683.50

Bursa Malaysia closed firmly higher on Sept 22 as continued bargain hunting following the recent sell-off lifted the benchmark index nearly 1%, in tandem with gains across regional and global markets.

At the closing bell, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 16.56 points to 1,683.50 from its close of 1,666.94 on Sept 21. The index moved between an intraday low of 1,665.23 and a high of 1,684.34.

Investor attention also remained on the upcoming meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sept 24, with markets watching for signals on trade and other bilateral issues.

The positive momentum extended across the broader market, with the FBM 70 gained 155.27 points to 17,844.41, while the FBM Emas climbed 115.53 points to 12,514.14.

The FBM Shariah advanced 89.62 points to 12,326.38, while the F4GBM added 10.01 points to 1,015.34.

AIMAX Bhd was the most actively traded counter with about 165.13 million shares changing hands, ending unchanged at one sen.

Zetrix AI Bhd gained half a sen to 20.5 sen on 138.50 million shares, while JAKS Resources Bhd was flat at 17 sen with 83.14 million shares traded.

AirAsia Group Bhd climbed 4.5 sen to 57.5 sen on 81.41 million shares, while Capital A Bhd rose three sen to 27 sen with 63.64 million shares transacted.

Overall trading activity strengthened, with 3.57 billion units worth RM3.15 billion changing hands, compared to 2.93 billion units valued at RM2.49 billion on Sept 21.
