Indonesia-based logistics provider Lion Parcel has opened its first international office in Subang Jaya, marking the company’s entry into Malaysia and its first step towards international expansion.
Malaysia was selected as Lion Parcel’s first overseas market due to its position as a regional logistics hub, with the company targeting cross-border delivery needs between Malaysia, Indonesia and other international markets.
Lion Parcel Chief Executive Officer Farian Kirana said the company would leverage the Lion Group ecosystem, particularly Batik Air Malaysia’s air connectivity and cargo infrastructure, to support its operations in Malaysia.
“Malaysia is an important first step in Lion Parcel’s international journey. We see significant opportunities to optimize the Lion Group ecosystem, particularly Batik Air Malaysia’s air connectivity. This provides Lion Parcel’s business partners with access to a wider international network,” he said.
He added that the cargo infrastructure supported by Batik Air Malaysia’s Cargo Terminal Operator (CTO) at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) would help streamline international delivery processes.
Lion Parcel Malaysia Country Head Alvin Williams said Malaysia’s role in regional logistics could grow further as KLIA develops its position as an air cargo and transshipment hub.
“Malaysia has an important role to play in the development of regional logistics connectivity, particularly with Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) continuing to develop its position as a regional air cargo and transshipment hub,” he said.
Lion Parcel Malaysia currently provides B2B and retail delivery services, including international shipments to destinations served through the Lion Group’s flight network.
Batik Air Malaysia currently serves more than 60 destinations across 20 countries, covering markets in Southeast Asia, China, India, Australia and other regional destinations.
Lion Parcel said its Malaysian operations are also supported by a Cargo Terminal Operator operated by Batik Air Malaysia at KLIA Cargo Village in Selangor, which handles air freight and supports international deliveries.
