Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim is set to visit China on 22-24 September 2026, at the invitation of the Government of the People’s Republic of China, to attend the 48th Worldskills Competition (WSC) in Shanghai and the 5th Global Digital Trade Expo (GDTE) in Hangzhou.
According to Wisma Putra, he will be accompanied by Minister of Transport, Loke Siew Fook; Minister of Home Affairs, Senator Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail; and Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani; as well as senior government officials.
As part of the programme, Prime Minister is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Premier Li Qiang to discuss bilateral cooperation and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. Premier Li will also host a luncheon in honour of Prime Minister and the delegation.
Prime Minister will also engage with business communities of Malaysia and China to focus on strengthening economic ties, exploring new opportunities for cooperation and promoting greater business- to-business linkages.
Malaysia and PRC established diplomatic relations on 31 May 1974. For seventeen years since 2009, PRC has remained Malaysia’s largest trading partner. Total trade between the two countries is valued at RM541.54 billion in 2025, representing 17.7 percent of Malaysia’s total global trade (RM3.061 trillion).
