Foreign Minister Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan will lead Malaysia’s participation at the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81) in New York from Sept 23 to 27.
Mohamad is scheduled to deliver Malaysia’s National Statement during the General Debate on Sept 27 at 4.30am Malaysian time. The session will be broadcast live via UN WebTV.
During the working visit, Mohamad will attend a series of high-level meetings and hold bilateral discussions with foreign counterparts and the United Nations Secretary-General.
Malaysia’s participation at UNGA81 will focus on strengthening multilateral cooperation in areas including peace and security, trade and investment, the green economy, emerging technologies and sustainable development.
The Foreign Ministry said Malaysia will also highlight the priorities of developing nations as part of its engagement at the United Nations.
This year’s UNGA theme is “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations that Delivers for All”.
