Bursa Ends Flat As US Yield, West Asia Concerns Weigh

Bursa Malaysia ended virtually flat on Sept 25 as concerns over rising US Treasury yields and escalating tensions in West Asia kept investors cautious.

At the closing bell, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) slipped 0.69 point, or 0.04%, to 1,671.62 from its close of 1,672.31 on Sept 24. The benchmark index moved between 1,666.99 and 1,675.47 during the session.

Despite the marginal decline in the benchmark index, broader indices closed higher. The FBM 70 gained 90.10 points, or 0.51%, to 17,844.91, while the F4GBM rose 1.42 points, or 0.14%, to 1,010.47.

The FBM Emas added 15.37 points, or 0.12%, to 12,456.64, while the FBM Shariah advanced 14.51 points, or 0.12%, to 12,306.23.

AIMAX Bhd was the most actively traded counter, falling half a sen to 0.5 sen on 906.86 million shares after trading between 0.5 sen and 1.5 sen.

Zetrix AI Bhd was unchanged at 19 sen on 94.95 million shares, while Velesto Energy Bhd slipped one sen to 22 sen on 67.73 million shares.

Top Glove Corporation Bhd declined 2.5 sen to 75.5 sen on nearly 40 million shares, while Cypark Resources Bhd rose five sen to 82 sen on 37.33 million shares.

Trading volume expanded to 4.07 billion units worth RM2.69 billion compared to 3.32 billion units valued at RM2.74 billion on Sept 24.
