Northern Solar Holdings Bhd has clarified that discussions on a potential solar-plus-storage project under the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS), reportedly worth more than RM800 million, remain ongoing, with no definitive agreement signed.
The renewable energy company responded to a news report suggesting that it was finalising details of a 170-megawatt (MW) CRESS project involving a single data centre customer.
The report indicated that Northern Solar could participate as the project’s asset owner rather than as an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contractor, with an estimated construction period of two and a half years.
However, Northern Solar stressed that these details remain preliminary and have not been finalised or agreed upon by the relevant parties.
The company said the proposed capacity of 170MW, estimated value exceeding RM800 million, solar-plus-storage configuration, construction timeline, ownership structure and electricity offtake arrangement remain subject to negotiations, due diligence, regulatory requirements and final commercial terms.
As such, the project’s eventual scope and terms may differ from those reported.
