Police will summon former Negeri Sembilan state executive council (Exco) members to record their statements as part of an investigation into the administrative and royal institution crisis in the state, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail said.
He said the former Exco members would be called in from tomorrow, alongside witnesses and other individuals deemed relevant to the investigation, following several police reports lodged over the matter.
“Indeed, numerous police reports have been lodged by certain parties. We will conduct investigations and record statements from relevant individuals, including former Exco members and those involved,” he said.
Mohd Khalid said police had already summoned several individuals, including one or two who may serve as witnesses, and were finalising investigation papers for submission to the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC).
He said police were reviewing all reports to determine the relevant legal provisions, including the possibility of offences under the Sedition Act or other laws. The decision on whether to prosecute rests with the Attorney General, he added.
The investigation follows the Negeri Sembilan ruler’s revocation of the appointments of 10 state Exco members with immediate effect on Sept 20. The move has since become the subject of a dispute involving the state administration and royal institution.
Mohd Khalid said the security and public order situation in Negeri Sembilan remained stable and under control.
