Bursa Ends Lower As Buying Interest Fades

Bursa Malaysia ended marginally lower on Sept 28 as selling pressure and a lack of fresh catalysts kept investors on the sidelines.

At 5pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 1.60 points, or 0.1%, to 1,670.02 from its closing of 1,671.62 on Sept 25. The benchmark traded between 1,668.61 and 1,674.11 during the session.

The overall broader indices also closed lower, as the FBM 70 dropped 157.14 points, or 0.88%, to 17,687.77, while the F4GBM declined 3.21 points, or 0.32%, to 1,007.26.

The FBM Emas fell 41.85 points, or 0.34%, to 12,414.79, while the FBM Shariah slipped 63.91 points, or 0.52%, to 12,242.32.

Among heavyweight counters, Maybank fell six sen to RM10.16 and Public Bank eased one sen to RM4.79.

CIMB bucked the weakness, gaining nine sen to RM7.99, while TNB and IHH Healthcare each added two sen to RM13.16 and RM8.01 respectively.

Zetrix AI Bhd was the most actively traded counter, with about 185.49 million shares changing hands. The stock was unchanged at 19 sen.

JAKS Resources Bhd gained 1.5 sen to 18.5 sen on volume of about 82.98 million shares, while newly ACE Market listed Evocom Bhd fell five sen to 13 sen, with about 71.76 million shares traded.

AIMAX Bhd rose half a sen to one sen on volume of about 65.22 million shares, while Inari Amertron Bhd declined 11 sen to RM2.55, with about 51.46 million shares changing hands.

Market activity moderated, with turnover slipping to 3.11 billion units worth RM2.4 billion compared to 4.07 billion units valued at RM2.69 billion on Sept 25.
