Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, wife of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, has died at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur today.
She was 100.
A notice stated that Dr Siti Hasmah died at 9.20am on Sept 28, 2026, at IJN in Kuala Lumpur.
Dr Siti Hasmah, born on July 12, 1926, was one of Malaysia’s pioneering female doctors and served in the government health service after graduating in medicine from Universiti Malaya.
She was also the wife of Mahathir, whom she married in 1956, and served as Malaysia’s prime minister’s spouse during his two terms in office.
