MIDA, OCBC Partner To Attract High-Value Investments From ASEAN, China, Korea And Taiwan

The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and OCBC Malaysia have entered into a strategic partnership to attract sustainable, high-value investments from ASEAN, China, Korea and Taiwan while strengthening linkages between foreign investors and local businesses.

The memorandum of understanding (MOU) brings together MIDA’s investment promotion and facilitation capabilities with OCBC Malaysia’s regional banking network and financing expertise.

Under the agreement, both parties will collaborate on investment missions, market outreach, industry engagements, investor lead-sharing and knowledge exchange, while jointly promoting Malaysia to prospective investors.

A key focus will be connecting anchor investors with Malaysian enterprises, including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), through business-matching and strategic partnership opportunities.

OCBC Malaysia will also provide tailored financing solutions through the broader OCBC Group network to support new investments, capacity expansion and business growth.

MIDA chief executive officer Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid said the partnership is aimed not only at attracting investment, but also ensuring that those investments create lasting value for Malaysian companies and talent.

He said the collaboration would support high-value sectors identified under the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030), including advanced manufacturing and renewable energy, while helping local companies strengthen their financial, technical and environmental, social and governance (ESG) capabilities.

OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Bhd chief executive officer Tan Chor Sen said the bank would leverage its OCBC One Connect platform and regional network to broaden Malaysia’s reach among investors in key Asian markets.

He added that the partnership is also intended to help Malaysian companies participate more actively in regional and global supply chains through strategic business partnerships.

Beyond investment promotion, MIDA and OCBC Malaysia will also cooperate on professional development and knowledge-sharing in areas including financial analysis, risk management and ESG practices.

The MOU was signed by Sikh Shamsul, Tan and OCBC Al-Amin Bank Bhd chief executive officer Syed Abdull Aziz Syed Kechik.
