Broad Bursa Sell-Off Sees Decliners More Than Double Gainers

A broad sell-off swept the stock market, with 750 decliners more than double the 342 gainers as selling pressure dominated the market.

Another 495 counters were unchanged, while 1,186 were untraded and 12 suspended.

Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd led the losers, falling 78 sen to RM21.42, followed by Allianz Malaysia Bhd, which shed 62 sen to RM21.

United Plantations Bhd declined 60 sen to RM30.96, while Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd and Heineken Malaysia Bhd each lost 32 sen, closing at RM21.42 and RM13.02 respectively.

Among gainers, Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd topped the list with a 72 sen increase to RM41.12.

Ayer Holdings Bhd rose 20 sen to RM7.70, Riverview Rubber Estates Bhd gained 12 sen to RM3.02, Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd added 10 sen to RM30, while ViTrox Corp Bhd advanced nine sen to RM10.00.

Trading activity also eased, with turnover falling to 3.1 billion units worth RM2.7 billion from 3.63 billion units valued at RM3.62 billion on Sept 30.
