FBM KLCI Gains 0.33% At Midday On Bargain Hunting

Bursa Malaysia extended its rebound at midday on Oct 2, with the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rising 5.44 points, or 0.33%, to 1,635.80 as bargain hunting lifted selected heavyweights.

At 12.30 pm, the FBM KLCI stood at 1,635.80 compared to its previous day’s closing of 1,630.36. The index traded between 1,630.63 and 1,640.78 during the morning session.

Other key indices were also firmer. The FBM 70 gained 115.75 points, or 0.67%, to 17,474.73, while the FBM Emas advanced 51.08 points, or 0.42%, to 12,194.61.

The FBM Shariah rose 66.45 points, or 0.55%, to 12,079.46, while the F4GBM added 4.20 points, or 0.43%, to 988.54.

Despite the stronger benchmark, broader market breadth remained slightly negative, with 507 losers outpacing 499 gainers. Another 494 counters were unchanged, 1,273 untraded and 24 suspended.

Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd was the biggest decliner, falling 46 sen to RM20.96, followed by Enra Group Bhd, which dropped 29 sen to 69 sen.

Other decliners include Allianz Malaysia Bhd, which slipped 28 sen to RM20.72, BLD Plantation Bhd, which fell 26 sen to RM14.74, and Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd, which declined 20 sen to RM29.80.

Top On the upside, Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd led the gainers as the counter climbed 84 sen to RM41.96.

United Plantations Bhd and UWC Bhd both gained 36 sen to RM31.32 and RM7.46 respectively, while UMS Integration Ltd and ViTrox Corporation Bhd added 34 sen each to RM8.99 and RM10.34.

Meanwhile, Zetrix AI Bhd was the most actively traded counter, falling 2.5 sen to 14 sen.

Jaks Resources Bhd edged up 0.5 sen to 18.5 sen, JCY International Bhd surged 10 sen to 65.5 sen, VS Industry Bhd gained two sen to 29 sen, while Top Glove Corporation Bhd rose 3.5 sen to 77 sen.

Total turnover stood at 2.24 billion shares worth RM1.26 billion.
