Passenger services for the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link are expected to commence in February 2027, with all system testing and trial runs targeted for completion by Dec 31 this year.
RTS Operations Pte Ltd (RTSO) said the timeline factors in the remaining works, third-party safety certification and approvals required from authorities in both Malaysia and Singapore.
“Our goal is to provide a safe and reliable service on the RTS Link,” it said.
The cross-border rail line will connect Bukit Chagar in Johor Bahru with Woodlands North in Singapore, with a journey time of about five minutes between the two stations.
Once operational, the RTS Link will have a peak capacity of up to 10,000 passengers per hour in each direction.
Co-located Customs, Immigration and Quarantine facilities will also be available at both stations, allowing passengers to complete immigration clearance before departure.
RTSO said the service is expected to improve daily cross-border connectivity between Johor Bahru and Singapore and support wider economic and social links between the two countries.
