Petaling Jaya Development Plans To Continue Despite MP Resignation, Says Anwar

Development projects and allocations for Petaling Jaya will continue despite the resignation of Lee Chean Chung as the constituency’s MP, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.

Anwar said the government would continue implementing projects involving schools, suraus, mosques, temples and roads, rejecting suggestions that Lee’s departure would disrupt development in the area.

“He is entitled to his views and we can accept them. But it is not true that development projects will come to a halt when an MP steps down,” Anwar said.

Lee resigned as Petaling Jaya MP with immediate effect after PKR suspended his membership for three years.

Anwar, who is also PKR president, said Lee had not been involved in party affairs for about a year and had not attended party meetings or its congress.
