Low Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Sabah Area

A low-magnitude earthquake struck the Panginatan area in Ranau, Sabah, at 10:57 am on Saturday, with tremors felt in Ranau and surrounding areas.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the 3.5-magnitude earthquake occurred at a depth of 13km, about 14km south of Ranau.

The earthquake was recorded at coordinates 5.9° North and 116.7° East.

MetMalaysia said it would continue monitoring the situation. The department’s latest statement will remain the final information on the earthquake unless further developments or additional information emerge.
