Nasdaq Leads Wall Street Higher As Rate-Sensitive Stocks Rally

Wall Street ended higher on Oct 2, with the Nasdaq leading gains as rate-sensitive stocks advanced following softer US employment data.

According to Reuters, the Nasdaq Composite jumped 319.27 points, or 1.2%, to close at 27,190.86, marking the strongest performance among the major indexes.

The S&P 500 gained 56.27 points, or 0.7%, to 7,722.72, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 250.40 points, or 0.5%, to 51,176.96.

Small-cap stocks also strengthened, with the Russell 2000 rising 0.9% for its biggest daily gain in a month, while the S&P 500 real estate sector added 0.4%.

Despite the gains on Oct 2, weekly performance was mixed. The S&P 500 slipped 0.27% for the week and the Dow fell 1.26%, while the Nasdaq gained 0.45%.
