Johor, Selangor Among Areas Hit By Unhealthy API Readings This Morning

Seven monitoring stations recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 9:56 am on Oct 5, with Johor recording three of the highest readings, according to the Department of Environment’s Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS).

The highest reading was 154 at Larkin, Johor, followed by 154 at Pasir Gudang and 153 at Batu Pahat. All three locations were classified as unhealthy.

Johan Setia in Selangor also recorded an API of 153, while Cheras in Kuala Lumpur registered 152 and Putrajaya 151.

In Negeri Sembilan, Nilai recorded an API of 129, also within the unhealthy range.

APIMS classifies API readings of 101 to 200 as unhealthy, 201 to 300 as very unhealthy, and readings above 300 as hazardous.

Of the 68 monitoring stations reported, 60 were in the moderate category, one was good, and seven were unhealthy. No stations recorded very unhealthy or hazardous readings.

The latest figures show the unhealthy readings concentrated across Johor, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Negeri Sembilan.
